Bell Mobility will become the second North American carrier, after Sprint, to launch Palm's Pre smartphone, the first to run on the PDA pioneer's follow up to the Palm platform, called the web OS. It will be the first operator to do so in Canada, of course.

The Palm Pre will be released by Bell Mobility on August 27th. The smartphone's been available in the U.S. since May. You'll be able to get your hands on a Pre in Canada for $200 CAD with a (rather lengthy) three-year agreement and minimum 500MB data plan. The smartphone can be pre-ordered now at www.bell.ca/pre.

During a conference call last week, Verizon execs revealed that it would start offering the Pre early next year. Sprint’s exclusivity agreement with Palm for the Pre in the U.S. ends at the close of 2009
