Camera-Less BlackBerry Tour Now Available From Sprint

Sprint launched the BlackBerry Tour, a high-end RIM smartphone that works on both the carrier's network and on mobile networks worldwide, back in July. Among its many features is a camera, standard fare for cell phones nowadays. Sometimes a shooter isn't wanted or needed, however. Hence the recent introduction by the carrier of a version of that very same smartphone without camera but otherwise the same set of features.

In some industries—such as real-estate and insurance—cameras are essential tools of the trade. But for many others, integrated cameras are seen as a nuisance and a danger to the bottom line. Why? Because they simply make it too easy for employees to share with others information that the corporate gatekeepers would prefer to keep private.

Since the majority of RIM's business is still mobile professionals and enterprises, it makes sense that the mob-e-mail leader would give its operator customers the option of selling their customers a version of the BlackBerry Tour sans camera.

Although it has a bit less in the way of features, the camera-less version of the BlackBerry Tour costs the same $199.99 with a two-year agreement as the one with a camera.

See here for full specifications of the BlackBerry Tour, which measures 4.4 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches and its weighs 4.6 ounces, and here to learn more about Sprint's edition of that smartphone without a camera.
