Odyssey Adds BlackBerry Support to Mobile Device Management

By James Alan Miller
September 18, 2009

Odyssey Software this week added support for RIM’s BlackBerry smartphones to Athena, its mobile device management product.

Athena’s BlackBerry tools will complement the full functionality of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS), according to the company. So it will allow enterprises to integrate mobile device management through a single console, complementing and extending the BES/BIS capabilities to existing enterprise management platforms such as Configuration Manager 2007.

Currently, Athena provides features like remote control, provisioning and asset reporting for Windows Mobile and Windows Embedded devices without requiring additional infrastructure. Odyssey plans to provide similar functionality in Athena for BlackBerry.

RIM currently holds about 17 percent of the global market share for smartphones, a market that has increased 47 percent in the last year according to the NPD Group. See here to learn more about Odyssey's mobile device management solutions.
