BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac Leaks

As we reported in July, RIM intends to introduce (at long last) a version of its BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac. Even better, it is due to roll out the application this month. While the mob-e-mail leader hasn't pulled the trigger on the release of the software yet, you can -- if you're daring -- give it a try now. That's because a leaked beta version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager is now available for download (see here).

BlackBerry users with Macs must turn to Mark/Space's The Missing Sync ($39.95) to get the same type of functionality (more, in fact) their PC brethren have long taken for granted for free. Like with the PC, RIM's BlackBerry Desktop Manager will be free for Mac users as well.

Here are some key features of BlackBerry Desktop Manger for Mac:

  • Sync your iTunes playlists, calendars, contacts, notes and tasks
  • Add/Remove applications
  • Update your device when new software becomes available
  • Backup and restore your device data with such features like automatically scheduled backups and optional encryption.
  • Manage multiple devices
  • Support for Mac OS 10.5.5 and above.

You can sign up here to be notified when the software becomes officially available.
