HTC today introduced its latest 'gPhone' model, the Tattoo. This device is the company's fourth Android-run smartphone and only the second to use its finger-friendly proprietary Sense user interface. HTC (High Tech Computer) is the leading developer and designer of Microsoft Windows Mobile and Google Android smartphones.

Specs include a 3.2 megapixel camera, digital compass, a microSD slot, FM radio, digital compass, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a 1100 mAh battery, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It runs on a 528MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM and measures 4.17 x 2.17 x 0.55 inches.

The Tattoo's touch display measures 2.8 inches diagonally and runs at a fairly low resolution of 240 x 320 pixels (QVGA) resolution. Interestingly, this smartphone will use more traditional resistive (stylus-friendly) technology rather than capacitive (finger-friendly -- think Palm Pre, T-Mobile G1 and Apple iPhone) for its screen.

This quad-band GSM world phone will ship in Europe first, starting next month, before hitting other international markets. Like the Samsung I5700 Galaxy Lite, expect the HTC Tattoo to be an entry-level Android smartphone.
