RIGA, Latvia, July 8, 2002 – Datoru Drosibas Tehnologijas announces today the release of FlyZip XR 1.6 based on the patent pending data compression technology.
FlyZip XR 1.6 is small, only 19kB, and at the same time very powerful data compression utility for Palm OS handhelds and smartphones. With compression technology, optimized for PDA devices, FlyZip XR 1.6 provides both high compression rate and high compression speed. Compression rate on data compression industry standard test files set, Calgary corpus, is 2.32:1 (more than 2 times). Some of the Palm OS applications, depending on data structure, can be compressed 5 and more times. Compression speed on typical Palm OS device is about 30kB/sec, which allows compressing or decompressing 100kB file in 3-4 seconds only.
FlyZip XR 1.6 is easy to use. Through built-in application manager applications can be compressed and decompressed with one easy operation (tap). Embedded anti-crash system provides safe memory management. Important features are power saving and memory saving, especially for PDA devices. Very small amount of memory and reduced number of CPU operations are necessary for compression or decompression.
