Message:I've had a look at this (under WinMe) and given up. The error arises because the Laplink TSRs aren't being loaded properly - recall that they have to be loaded before Windows fires up - for W98 this means before Protected Mode cuts in, which is pretty early in the boot sequence.
Laplink advised me that the version provided with the HP200LX was specially written for Win3.1 / DOS, and isn't rated to work under more recent versions of Windows. There aren't any more recent TSRs, and L/link Gold doesn't seem to talk to HP200LX Laplink at all (despite the advice on the LapLink web site).
SOMEONE has shoehorned Cpack L/link to work under W95. I can't remember the link but if you do a Yahoo search for Laplink 200LX you should find a page match with a little digging. His routine is quite a hack, so be prepared to do some development.
Otherwise I'd consider shelling out on a PCMCIA reader, keep your 200LX working data on a card and swap between machines as necessary.
Have fun,
James
