Well, rats. The message board takes out ALL of the spaces. You should be able to reproduce the cable chart. Use the PDA and the FULL DUPLEX columns.

And it killed the LED connections. Anode to the PDA's pin 3, cathode to pin 5. (Pretend that the [6 7 8 9 10] box is right under the [1 2 3 4 5] box...)

The rest of the infra-red, cut 'cause of size, is:

Installing With Windows 98
The second part is the same as Windows 95, but Microsoft introduced a new IrDA communications subsystem with Windows 98 which stops the Nokia Cellular Data Suite (NCDS) from working with Infra Red transmission. It is however reasonably easy to change Windows 98 back to the Windows 95 method of addressing IrDA ports. This is all covered below.

1.Open the Control Panel, and select Network. Highlight the infra red device listed and then click on remove. Click OK on the network box, when asked to reboot answer NO.
2.Backup the file MSPORTS.INF, you should find it in the WINDOWSINF directory.
3.Open the file in notepad by double clicking on it and find the following section.

[Std]
%*PNP0400.DeviceDesc% = LptPort, *PNP0400 ; Printer Port
%*PNP0401.DeviceDesc% = EcpPort, *PNP0401 ; ECP Printer Port
%*PNP0500.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, *PNP0500 ; Communications Port
%*PNP0501.DeviceDesc% = ComPort, *PNP0501 ; Communications Port

; No; *PNP051x devices are now supported in IRMINI.INF
%*PNP0510.DeviceDesc% = InfraredComPort, *PNP0510 ; IR Communications Port used byr IrDA stack
; %*PNP0511.DeviceDesc% = InfraredComPort, *PNP0511 ; IR Communications Port used byr IrDA stack

Ammend it until it looks like the above. i.e. remove the semi-colon from begining of the second from last line.

4.Now find this section, it should be near the end.

[Strings]
MS = "Microsoft"
Std = "(Standard port types)"
PortsClassName = "Ports (COM & LPT)"

*PNP0400.DeviceDesc = "Printer Port"
*PNP0401.DeviceDesc = "ECP Printer Port"
*PNP0500.DeviceDesc = "Communications Port"
*PNP0501.DeviceDesc = "Communications Port"
*PNP0510.DeviceDesc = "Generic Ir Serial Port"
;*PNP0511.DeviceDesc = "Generic Ir Serial Port"

Again ammend it until it looks like the above by removing the semi-colon for the begining of the second from last line.

5.Save the file and reboot. Windows will now detect a Generic Ir Serial Port, and use the Windows 95 drivers.
6.Enable your IR port (very often disabled in the notebook setup). Configure windows so that IR Mon is not running so that it detects devices.
7.Reboot (be sure NOT to have IR Mon running)
8.Install NDS 2.0. Put any COM port when required. The install will fail but go till the end.
9.Reboot. Do NOT launch IR Setup.
10.Edit the registry

In fact you have only two keys to change in the registry for the software to work with IR on Win95

Before modification:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENokiaDTP2V3]
"UseIr"=hex:00
"UserPortIR"=""

After modification:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENokiaDTP2V3]
"UseIr"=hex:01
"UserPortIR"="COM2"

(if COM2 is your physical IR port)
what if it's COM6??? And what if you're not installing "NOKIA DATA SUITE"???

11.Install PC Composer
12.Reboot
13.Be sure that IR Mon does not run. The IR port works for the suite and the composer.
