I am an excited consumer of the internet age, but I am a skepticist when it comes to buying products related to this. I am this way because it is my preference to wait for the 2nd, or even 3rd to the market based on the opportunity for improvements. As this relates to PDA's...I have waited to see if all the functionality that is being advertised...is realistic, and applicable for the consumer(not a test pilot review program).

I researched the Palm 3, 5, and 7, as well as the Visors, and the helio. I decided on the Helio for a few reasons...

1. I trust the brand name Vtech
2. specs
3. cost

I would love to be connected to the web, with my pda, but If I use the VII, I would have no use for any financial money managing programs, as I would have none to manage.

I love the ability to upgrade, and expand with the Visor, but again...the cost of the practical use of these expansions(pager, phone, mp3, etc.) I am guessing will cost quite a bit as well.

So for now...the helio fits my needs(replace my big Franklin Planner), with 8MB, compact, and basic business apps...this will last me 1-3 years until the market becomes more competitve for wireless use, the world goes to broad band and internet 2, and the practical use and cost is just that...practical. I envision myself buying a model form Handspring a few years down the road.

My recommendation to those cost cutting consumers is the Helio...if money is no object...get the palm VII, and there is probably even better out there!
