I can synch just fine using a PCMCIA slot on Win2K with my Rex 3. Try downloading the Starfish updater from my web page at this link:

http://www.mindspring.com/~akahan/tsci-starfish.exe

If you run that on your Win2K box, it should install appropriate drivers for you; it did for me.
