That is totally transparent to the process. You can have different sync settings on each computer, yes. The sync is always a two-way data transfer, however. If you change something on one computer, it will be transferred to the REX, then to the other computer. If you changed the same item in two places, then which change takes precedence depends on your "wins" settings.
