Hello Kathe,When my boss ordered his 6035 I plugged it into his computer and left the existing palm desktop and synchronization in place. I just hit the sync button on the 6035 and selected the old user profile and everything went into place.
Even if you install the software supplied with the Kyocera, you can still copy your user data to the new directory where it will be synced.
As for buying from Verizon, I would recommend buying the phone from the service provider. Some of the 6035 features , like email and web, are installed by the service provider. If you purchase the phone independent of a service provider, these features may not be installed.
