I waited for months for the R380 to be released. I felt it had just the right mix of functionality. I wasn't disappointed. But I was disappointed big time in its build quality, unless my unit is exceptionally bad.My R380 feels flimsy and cheap. It rattles and shakes. The battery moves around freely in the back. The stylus is so hard to remove from its grove, it gives you the feeling the battery is going to get dislodged from its location every time you pull the stylus out. And that sorry excuse for a keypad, with the pins pushing through to the touch-sensitive screen in the back, just sucks. There's no tactile feel, and you never know whether the key was actually pressed or not. The phone is also extremely slow in responding to commands and key presses. It takes more than a second for the phone list to move from a to b when you're after a name starting with b, for example. Like I said, the functionality is good, but the poor build quality and the slow response seriously impact the usefulness of the phone. So, for all of you out there contemplating to purchase this phone, beware. Thump up to Symbian for the operating system and applications, thump down to Ericsson for a badly executed product. I’ll wait for a Symbian based phone from another manufacturer.
