Message:I couldn't find an external antenna connector for the TP5250 (I tried the Nokia adapter that is supposed to fit the LG-300 to no avail) so I decided to make my own. I found a replacement antenna at RadioShack that will screw into the TP5250's antenna hole. Here's the RadioShack nomenclature: "Antenna for Samsung Phones Cat.#: 17-209" for $4.99. You can see it here at their website: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&category_name=CTLG_001_004_007_000&product_id=17-209 I wanted just the part that screws into the phone's antenna hole, so I snipped off the retractable antenna shaft. I then got a 2 feet long piece of RG-58/U coax cable (available at RadioShack) and stripped it so that about an inch and a half of center conductor was sticking out. I ran the center conductor down into the new antenna connector and soldered the center conductor to the metal part of the RadioShack antenna connector. After I soldered it, I snipped off the excess center conductor. I put some shrink wrap on the coax/antenna connector junction and it looks great. The cable replaces the TP5250's antenna, just screw the antenna out and screw the cable in. I put a male TNC (available at RS) on the other end of the cable (this connects to the external car antenna). Hopefully someday someone will make a pigtail that will plug into our phone's antenna port and life will be really sweet, but until then this is one way to use an external antenna.
