Hello there,I have set up both a Kyocera 6035 and a Handspring Treo 180 for my boss. Besides the keyboard and the physical form of the units, they are basically the same. I think the Treo has a little better integration between the address book and the phone than the Kyocera.
If you have never owned a PDA, the Palm OS is a good PDA platform to start out with. It is simple to use and performs all the basic PDA functions. As you learn to use it and find additional needs, the availability of third party programs will allow it to do pretty much anything you can imagine. That may be getting ahead of ourselves at the moment.
As for waiting for a color version, color usually makes the display much clearer in certain lighting conditions. Depending on the color technology, it may be unreadable in some lighting conditions where the B/W screen will most likely be clear in any light condition. I believe that Handsprings previous color unit was readable in most lighting conditions, but I am not sure. If you have used only a B/W PDA, you will probably be quite satisfied with it. If you are used to a color PDA, then going back to B/W will probably be disappointing.
Keep in mind that the Treo requires a GSM mobile network. If you are in the USA, that does somewhat limit your options of providers for the service. Also keep in mind that if you will be using the Internet features, i.e. email and web browsing, this will likely be an additional charge to your service. Cingular, here in California, charges an additional $5 a month for data service as well as 10 cents a minute whenever you are using the phone for a data connection (email or web). Other GSM providers will probably have different pricing structures and may not be as steep as Cingular.
Good luck,
