To the person who was going to activate his Nokia 9290 at Voicestream and to other potential users:I took my 9290 the other day to activate and was told by a tech person with Voicestream that the 9290 will never be fully compatible withe Voicestream's GPRS data network. This means that to access the internet and email you'll have to do so in dial-up mode at top connection speed of 9600 bps.
This was a big blow to me. I was pretty happy with the new 9290, but now I'm seriously thinking about returning it. If it's not any good at getting e-mail and the net, than it's price and size can't be justified in my opinion.
Has anyone else learned anything about this? Why would Nokia tell you to activate the phone with Voicestream if it's not designed to work on their data network?
