I use my Z 5800...heavy....I moved up from Z 3000, Lets level set....
1)I do not want to surf with a PDA with 3x 5 screen...it is not worth it. That is what I use my laptop for..2) I cannot spend the money they are asking for these days for some of these PDA's. From my point of view if you need to sync with Outlook, then maybe it is a need. 4 me it is not...
3) I need a PDA that is simple to use and has everything I need without having to crack open my laptop.
How I use it....
In my job, I do client visits, and info is sent to me via email.
I start with my DATA files. I built a client contact similar to the one that is used at my job.
Client Name, Address, City, Site ID, Sale Rep name, Phone#, Cell#, Category, Notes
Here is where I play..I link everything about the client from appointments, To Do, Client contact write up, expenses. I love this feature...then after the client contact, I file it in filer.
When i do my travel plans, I have SABRE WEB site email me the travel plans...I then import it using the Rupplynx 6.0...then link it to the client entry on Z.
I use Rupplynx 6.0 to bkup and sync on laptop...They really need to fix it so it is easier to sync a single APP, I found out if the app has links to items not be sync.. Rupplynx do not like it...I get INK Error...unhandled field...if anyone knows how to correct it plz let me know...anyway i do a full sync and that seems to work ok.
I also use the To Do as a journal...I did use the document, but found out the more pages I added the slower the response...I can touch type pretty good and some times Z would not keep up.
Using the To Do as Journal works pretty good, you got a title and date automatically, then I turn on the secret option and it hides it away....Contact feature is pretty standard use, I do not use the Outline...I cannot figure how to use in my business...But the point I want to make is that if you use Z correctly, it will help organize everything you through out the day, week and month.
I use my Z as a Client contact, Planner, Journal and Project management. I keep it with me always, like my wallet. Some times people think it is new PDA brand when they see it...I still get people looking at me saying WOW...nice.
If I do consider getting another PDA, i would want a PDA with a Keyboard....Palm, Pocket PC they just do not do it for me these days...besides I cannot write very well...and I do not need another Windows app I got to deal with...blue screen scared I guess...I looked at psion, Jornada, I really cannot justify the cost...most the features they offer, I can do on my Z. So i stick with what works for me...I got my wife one and she is awsome with it....I have not got the PMCA card, not really sure where to get one ...at this time It is not needed...I figure I got at least 2 years left before total support is dropped....but I hope not, as long as I can do some kind of sync or bkup on my laptop, I think I will keep it.
