Hi, Podman,I'm not certain, but I think converting to USB will give you the same results: no printing. I know that the Aegis Cable has a "low-level current" in it (I remember their advertising) and since your adapter arrangement doesn't, that could be the problem. But I'm no engineer and maybe there's still a way.
Another suggestion: I use the Sharp CE-IR1 IR printer adapter. It runs off four AA battteries and it works perfectly. I bought it on e-bay from a guy named Crazy Lee, and despite his appelation, he's got a lot of adapters on hand, or at lease he did, and I think I only paid ten dollars.
