Strangely, "local USB" is not available from Hotsync Manager when a different user logs in. Because of security issues, I had to install Palm Desktop using an Administrator account, while the usual user is merely a Power User. When the Administrator is logged in, Hotsync'ing works (over USB) but when logged in as Power user, Hotsync Manager in the system tray does not list "local USB" as an option. any ideas?
Thanks!

login to the PC as the user you installed the software as. export this key from the registry. Hkey_Current_Use\software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
Merge this into any other user profiles that will be syncing.

The usual way to install would be to promote the user to "administrator" temporarily (give the user full rights), install, have the user do a HotSync, then revoke admin rights to that user.
