I work at a school for young people with special needs and one of the students in my residential House has picked up a Psion 3c from a charity shop!! Only £3 and seems to work OK.
Can I use the connection and PsiWin software the same as my 5mx? Which version?
Could I download the manual from anywhere or a few shortcuts to get us going with it?
Can you send infered images from 5mx to 3c and if so in what format ie. jpeg to....? (he wants a Buffy image on it!
Lots and lots but I must admit I was quite jealous of his find!!!
Thanks Nigel

Yes you can. Version choice is more a matter of which version of Windows you have than which Psion. 1.1 is best-featured for Series 3's, but 2.3.3 is the only version that works with 2K and XP.

Don't know - do some web searches.

Not directly, the IR format is different. You may find some success with Jim Pollock's shareware IR files (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lakes/3947/). As far as picture formats are concerned, you'll have to do some research into what format 3's use - I know its not the 5 MBM format, nor is it a standard format like GIF, JPG etc, but I'm not sure what it is instead.

There doesn't appear to be a manual for the 3c on Psion's (IMHO) thoroughly useless website :(
If you have specific questions, let me know as I still have a 3c. The file system is different in that, as well as using the DOS 8.3 filename format, files have to go in the correct directory and have the correct extension to appear under the Icon. For example, Word files must go in the \WRD\ directory and have .wrd extension.
You can however create new lists and have more than one Icon for a particular application. Applications can also be installed or uninstalled from the system screen depending whether you want to use them - for example, I don't have Calc, Jotter, Patience, Sound, Program, RunImg or Script installed.
The applications themselves should be fairly intuitive but you may have to search for a third party app if you want to do anything with graphics. I did have a program from Purple software but seem to think it only supported .gif files and even then only some .gif files could be opened.
The 3c's IR port only supports file transfer between compatible machines (3c, 3mx and Siena) and printing to IR enabled printers but, as 'diem' says, you might get something from Jim Pollock's site for anything more *****ious.
