Is it possible to synchronize, over the internet, directly with a Microsoft Exchange Server?

This would be very intresting if it could be done over WiFi or a bluetooth-gprs-phone.

I am almost positive (only not sure because I have some hope that they can figure this out), that this is not possible.

Microsoft makes a Sync Server now that I am guessing interacts with Exchange 2000 and allows users to connect directly to the sync server and get an update while at work. I am sure my company will never be this far advanced and do not look forward to this.

Another problem is the lack of VPN capabilities other than the rarely used Windows VPN stuff. Most companies seem to be using CP2000, Nortel or Cisco for VPN switches/devices and only a few software titles exist and noe have worked for me.

Guess I will have to stick to the old cradle....

It seems very weird that direct access to an Exchange Server is not possible. Microsoft must have removed basic wiring to make that impossible. I mean, letting the mail program or PIM connect over the net to a server must be the absolute basic thing what mail programs do. Weird.

Well exchange is not a basic email server. Also, Microsoft has not been known to make things super easy....at least without buying something.
