Well it has been, what felt like a long time coming, for a 3rd party to come out with accessories for the Axim. Here is a link to Moonlight Technologies, they have just released some USB hotsync travel charging cables. I have just ordered mine and will let everyone know what I think of the product once I receive it.

It is extremely affordable from comparable products such as Belkin.

I hate to burst your bubble. With the items I received from Dell, I can do the same as the products offered. The carging device I got from Dell is rated 100-240VDC. I already have an "ASIAN" plug, the round peg type. Cheaper than the travel kit. I got the USB travel cable from Dell, no cradle. What is the advantages of buying ony of the items posted on the above site?

My Moonlight USB charging/data cable just came in...the only problem is, I'm up in Rhode Island working a job and the cable was sent to my home in MS...I will be heading home on the 27th and will get to try it out then....I also have the Dell USB cable and the reason I bought the MT USB cable is because they say it will charge from the USB port....I like that feature since I'm always on my laptop and the Dell usb cable doesnt charge..only sync's data....When I had my Palm 515, I bought the Belkin USB cable which included the cigarette light to USB adapter for the auto...I still have the cig/usb plug which should rectify 12v down to 5v for the axim....I'm looking forward to trying it out.....:)

Iguana73,

You are not very good at popping bubbles - the USB travel cable offered from dell does not charge the Axim as the ones on the link above do. Furthermore - anyone that travels extensivly needs a multifunction cord - one cable that charges and syncs at the same time. In addition the Travel adapter allows you to use the USB Sync cable as a stand alone AC Charger.

Travelers that have to lug a laptop, pda, cell phone and a bunch of other crap love items that save space and weight. I paid over $30 each for a iPAQ and Sony travel kit from Belkin - this site is cheap!

If you don't travel - you don't need a multifuction cable - I keep it at home to work there which allows me to keep my cradel at work.

Has anyone received one of these USB Hotsync/Charging cables from Moonlight Technologies that actually works?

I'm on my second one, replaced by MT, to their credit. But it doesn't work right, either. The D-connector is poorly made, and I have to push/pull/twist in all sorts of ways before the sync connection is made. This, after less than a week's use, and it gets progressively worse. I don't have any problems with the stock sync cable.

How about this type of cable from other vendors?

I have been having problems with my Moonlight Technologies USB Sync/Charge cable. Seems to be an intermittent charging problem...sometimes my Axim 400 will charge and sometimes it won't. I have tried hooking the usb cable to several different desktops and laptops including usb 1.0 and 2.0. During the times that the power light on the Axim doesn't light up, it seems to be draining the batteries on the Axim...when the light does light up it seems to charge fine....can't quite figure out the pattern, if there is one...I emailed Moonlight yesterday and didn't get any response as of today, 3-4-03...:mad:Anyone had this same intermittent charging problem?

well or lousy it works. Funny I did't see anything about this before I ordered it. And to my suprise after I did here is a topic
on the part I ordered.

The very first time I used the first cable, the battery did seem to be discharging. After disconnecting/reconnecting, it was fine and I haven't had charging problems since.

The problem I'm having now, with two cables, is intermittent syncing. I know it's the cruddy d-connectors they're using, because I can wiggle it around, push it on partway, etc., and finally get it to connect. And like I said before, no such problem with the Dell cable that came with it.
