PhonemanPro + T68i

Just to keep everyone informed. Zenobyte are busy updating their PhoneManPro to provide additional support for the T68i phonebook. They still have a few problems to resolve but these are being worked on as I write.

Current version is now V2.99 with Ericsson Support 1.12F. You only need to update if you have an Ericsson Phone and want the extended phone book functionality (to work !!).

Hurrah! I honestly had started to think that they had given up on this. So are we finally about to get the ability to write back to the extended phone book? Is there an estimated release date?

This latest release, enables you to Sync from your phone but this completely replaces the phonebook within your PhoneMan Pro. It also allows you to copy the entire phonebook (or selected), back to your phone without error. There are still a couple of bugs and this includes:

1) Connection indicator does not display when using sync/copy
2) If you have any personal ring tones, pictures or voice dial set up against contacts, these will be lost, when you copy all data to the phone (they are currently working on this)
3) Copy to Phone also deletes the Last Call List
4) Progress Bars do not seem to work when you are copying/syncing phone. Apparantely this is down to the way files are transferred, so not sure if this will be fixed.
5) No Merge functionality available on Sync.

I am sure future releases are due soon.

Thanks Si. I was being lazy and have just been to the Zenobyte site and found your thread there about some of the issues. None of these remaining ones should be show-stoppers for me so I'll give it a go a little later today and see how I get on. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that Steve and co. fix the last few remaining issues now rather than letting then hang around! :)

I had doubts about going over to a t68i aswell but couldn't resist with current freephone & camera offers.

I have only had it a week so am still playing. Have found that you can easily transfer themes (like desktop themes), screensavers (animated gifs), backdrops (normal gifs) and melodies (these are just text files .imy or .emy for ericcson t68i) to and from the phone using Psion's IRPort. Mind you I have got plbeam installed so not sure if it would still work with normal epoc irda drivers.

Also Steve at Zenobyte, confirmed, they may start work on sorting out the melody functionality within Phoneman, to eventually support T68i.

My main concern though is getting the synchronise functionality working as this is what I normally use, aswell as not loosing personaly settings against contacts when copying to phone. I am sure they will get there in the end.

A week ... pah! I've been waiting for over a year for the extended phone book support. :(

I think that you do need plBeam for full functionality ... I cannot beam the photos from my wife's new phone (a Panasonic jobbie) to my netBook as-is and I still have to try it with plBeam but I think that it will work.
