When i turn off my treo by closing the lid after just a few moments it turns back on. After the timeout it turns off again and just a few moments later back on (not always though)...

If i turn it off by pressing the button and then close the lid then in it is ok (almost every time)...

It's kind of chaotic... Is there anybody else who has this problem or a solution to it ?

I have an idea that it could be bad contact somewhere between the lid and the main unit or maybe just some third party software, but after a number of experiments i still can't localize the problem :/

Any idea would be fine....

Are you running the GPRS upgrade? Try deleting any SMS messages that are in your pending folder.

Yes indeed i have installed the treo GPRS update v 1.1.1 , and i looked in the sms pending list but there were no pending messages :/

But thanks anyway - i'll try to experiment a bit with gprs on/off :)

Are you using treoAlertMgr?
I'm searching for answers to help you....

Yes, but the problem occured long before i started to use it (actually i installed it only today)...

I don't mind you asking me questions at all.

BTW the funny thing is that for more than 6 hours it has been ok now... the only reason i can think of is battery. I know this sounds crazy, but once you've run out of rational thoughts you grab each one that occurs :)
the idea is: What if the battery turning the device on was trying to get rid of some power cause i was keeping it pretty full all the time :D and now the power cord is unplugged for just about 6 hours :D

I don't think your battery thought has anything to do with it.
I know from past experience and reading other info about this issue is that the Treo is attempting to send pending SMS or emails and that is why the backlight comes on. Do you have an email client set to send and receive email at periodic intervals?

Ooops, i thought i answered to this.

I have no e-mail client set for periodical checking :/

I tried to turn off all hacks i have on it - it doesn't help either :/

I'm in despair - maybe it is supposed to do that once in a while - i mean maybe it should turn itself on for some kind of reason...

I just want to understand if its ok or not :/

No, it's not normal unless, as MillerHIFI suggested, you have pending SMS messages. This can cause your Treo to 'wake up'.

The switch is a magnet. 1 magnet in the lid, next to the speaker and the other under the letter 'D' on the keyboard.

It sounds like the lid is not closing properly or the magnet in the lid has moved.

To test it, you will need a reasonably strong magnet. Put it on the letter 'D' - this should turn off your Treo. See if Treo turns on by itself. If it doesn't, it's the magnet in the lid problem. If it still turns on, I would think you have a software problem with one of your apps.

Hope this helps.
