Hi all,
I´m a new user of the Zire handheld and my question is:
Is it possible to browse the internet (for instance with Palmscape), and access email, by using the infrared connection from the Zire to a IrDA mobile phone (Nokia 6310i) with GPRS capabilities. If afirmative, how can I do that?
Thank you
Rui (from Portugal)

I'm pretty sure that this is possible. However, keep in mind that the Zire is not the best PDA for this because of its lack of memory and color screen.

I tried and I tried and I am unable to connect to the internet using an infrared GPRS connection to the Nokia 6310i mobile phone, although in the palm site it seems it is possible.

I used the configuration to network connection as descibed in "1st method" and "2nd method" of palm site (www.palm.com/europe/mobile/gprs2.html) and nothing seems to work.
The 1st method generates a "timed out" error, while the 2nd method, when signing on, results in a "Error:incomplete setup: Check your network settings". In both methods there seems that the GPRS number "*99#" is not understood (dialed) by the phone.
Can anybody help me please?
Thank you.
Rui

I have not personally tried to surf the net using Xinio web browser over the Zire. However I've set it up to run on my m130.

I have tried the gprs methonds provided in the palm site but to no avail.

However, the last thing which I did was to contact my cellular network provider, and they told me to bring my handheld to their wireless center. Fortunately, they had set it up.

So my advice for you is to contact your cellular network provider and have them set up your handheld. Surely they know all the parameters that need to be set up on your network settings.
