I want to export my DATEBOOK (DBA) from Palm Desktop to MS OUTLOOK 2000. I did not find any utility to do that. Any suggestion ?

If I understand your question correctly you want to export from the Palm Desktop to Outlook, you do not want to simply sync your Palm to Outlook. In the Palm Desktop go to File/Export and follow your nose. Than go to Outlook and File/Import.
If I have read your question incorrectly and you want to SYnce to Outlook you need to install the conduit from Chapura called Pocket Mirror. It is on the original Palm Install CD or at the Chapura.com web site under Standard Pocket Mirror update.
Once you have Pocket Mirror established you can switch and sync to the Desktop when you desire.

Der Dr Mud,

Thank you for your quick answer. Of course I already knew that I could export from Palm Desktop and import into Outlook.

My problem is that in Palm Desktop is only proposed the DBA format for export, and this format is not present in the list of formats proposed by Outlook for import.

I suppose that someone may have developp such a converter ? Or is it a product that I could find on Microsoft website ?

YOu should be offered the option to export the address book as a CSV which Outlook (Windows Address Book) can import.
Perhaps you need to update the Palm Desktop Software.

I believe that BOUVATTIER wants to export his datebook, not address book.

Like you, I thought that there were many ways to export the datebook, but I was wrong. I have the latest version of Palm Desktop and the only export type for the entire calendar is indeed .dba. There are many types of files for export of the address book such as .csv, vCard, .aba, .tab/.txt.

I am not very familiar with using Outlook. Apparently, it does not import .dba. If you want to export a single event in your datebook, you can do it with vCal in Palm Desktop. Again, I am not sure if Outlook supports this either. I would assume that it does. However, it appears that the entire datebook cannot be exported from Palm Desktop to Microsoft Outlook.

If you have a Yahoo! account, it can allow you to do what you want. Here is how to do it.

1. Export your Palm Desktop datebook in .dba format.
2. Import this file into your Yahoo! calendar.
3. Export your Yahoo! calendar in .csv format.
4. Import this file into your Outlook calendar.

If you have anything that you need already on your Yahoo! calendar, then be sure to back it up beforehand. If you do not have a Yahoo! account, you might want to ask someone who does if you can do this. Of course, you would tell them to back up their data.

Or, there may be a separate program available for converting a .pdb file to a .csv file. You might want to look into that as well.

Hope this helps.

Great work around.
My schedule this week end has me in too big of a rush. I knew I was missing something in that post.

Than you for your reply.

I have the 4.01 version of Palm and I did not see the CSV export option (not talking of ADRESS BOOK but DATEBOOK). I will try to get the 4.1 version.

Did you read the post about using the Yahoo calendar for transfering Palm desktop calendar data to Outlook? Outlook comes with the Axim. Even if you aren't going to use Outlook, you can convert the desktop file to Outlook and then use Organizer to convert the Outlook file to Organizer format.

Hello,
Thank you for the reply. Yes, I tried to import the dba file to Yahoo Calender. It didn't work. I even did a new export file and it told me The file was not imported or was the wrong format, please check your file. There is nothing wrong with the file. I don't know what else to do. I tried everything...

What version of the Palm desktop are you using? Have you tried downloading Yahoo Intellisync and then using that to sync your Palm desktop files to the Yahoo calendar?

Hello,
I have the most up today copy of Palm Desktop. It's version 4.1.0. I tried to import my information from Palm Desktop to Yahoo and had no luck there either. I was told I could use Pocket Mirror. The problem is I don't have an extra $50 bucks. I was also told that it's the Palm CD but that was lost in the fire too. Do you have any idea how to get a replacment disk?

Let me repeat. Did you try downloading Intellisync for Yahoo and then syncing your Palm data with the Yahoo calendar? You can do this by setting the handheld to overwrite the desktop so you only import into Yahoo calendar. Please read http://help.yahoo.com/help/intsync/ for more information about using Intellisync. I do this almost every day so I know it works. I'm using Desktop 4.01.

Hello,
Yes, I did download intellisync from yahoo. It didn't work either. I have to sync my device and I do not have it. I just have the Palm Desktop. I even tried importing the imformation. It only imported some of the information. How do you import all of it? I have got to be doing something wrong. I did what it said and it still didn't work. What do I do now?

There's now (2007) a program called dba2csv (www.dba2csv.com) that will convert your dba file you exported from Palm Desktop to a CSV or plain text file.

I've had no problems at all with this moving calendars into Googles calendars - repeating events and all :) It costs 10 bucks, but I've had help from the developer on a sunday, and when I asked if the program could save my settings they brought out a new version like 2 days later!

For Outlook you might want to open the CSV file in excel  and save it as a tab delimited file first if you can't get it to work.

Cheers
