i330 won't sync

I had a Visor before going over to the dark side (Toshiba e740) that synced up just fine through the USB cable.

I installed the new software for my i330, Palm Desk, Chapura, USB driver in the order listed. I am running W98SE and Office/Outlook 2K.

The phone can not find the PC.

I looked in my device manager and the USB drivers appear to be installed correctly (using COMM 2 because COMM 1 has my UPS connected to it). I have been to Palm's help site, Sprint's, and Samsung's. No help there. I have done a soft reset, power down reset, and a hard reset. No change.

Sort of out of ideas at this point. Nice phone but not worth much if I have to enter the data manually.

I had some problems with mine too. i called sprint and they helped me out. If in your device manager the samsung usb device under the comm ports is comm two. Then you have to make sure you're hot sync mamager is also set up under comm two. (Right right click on the hot sync icon an hit setup) also the device manager mustbe set to local serial, not local usb. I don't if this helps or not, but thats what I did and it worked. By the way the one thing sprint could not help me with was text messaging. have you been able to text message anybody from you're i330, because i can't fing anywhare to do it!

That did it. Nowhere in the manual did it say to set the comm to serial. Sheesh.
