hello i'm kinda new to this handheld scene and i have some questions. If i can get these questions answered the sooner i can develop interfaces and mods being i'm a comp engineering student and i want to use these in my projects.

First I want to state that when i bought my mobilepro 750 that besides the comp i got the factory power adapter and that was it.

questions

1. I was looking around on the net to find the serial cable and i noticed they are 45 bucks. I also found the pin out to make your own cable. My question is where can i find this hirose electric co terminal so i can make my own serial cable? Can I just use another pda adapter and rewire it to my needs?

2. Do I really need the serial cable? I noticed the compact flash port, I was thinking of getting one of those 12 in 1 compact reader/writer and just burn my software to it then just jack that into my handheld? Can i do that or do i need software hence, really neeeding the cable, all i have is the barebones ce 2.0

3. The pcmia card slot i'm informed it can be used for wireless ethernet, non wireless ethernet and as a compact flash extension, if so i need a wireless ethernet and nonwireless based ethernet pcmia that have drivers for my ce 2.0 where would i find these, since their are type 2 and i think type 1 pcmia

4. Finally i read all the posts and its not exactly clear my network is a regular 10/100 tcp/ip network, somewhere i read that what i need is an sql network, is this true? I'm not familiar with sql and i thought i needed to turn a pc into a server before i can just tap into the network. cause we have 10/100 jacks all over and some intranetworks i figured it just jack in or use the wireless since we have a wireless network too. I did find however inside the mobilepro where i can set my own ip number? so i'm guess sql kinda uses tcp/ip

I hope you guys can help me with these questions, I'll be glad to post my development with mobilepro 750 on a website and put up a post linking it to my site.

I have a MobilePro 800. Using a SocketLPE compactflash card I was able to get on the network wired with no problems. You can download drivers from their site, but you'd have a hard time sync'ing up to install them without the cable. If you can someone borrow someone's for 1 sync you should be OK. In the future, you could sync with the LPE card.

Now I have an Orinoco Gold wireless card that is working great for wireless ethernet on my 802.11b home network. No probs!
