I have had a t615 for about a month and love it, but I have one question, just above the jog dial is a ... well, a thing that looks like it should attach to a strap or key chain or something. What is it? Why is it there? I searched through all of my manual and Sony never even mentions it.

It's a lanyard eyelet. If you want, you can get a lanyard and attach it like a camera strap. Seems like such an unnatural way to carry the Clie though...

I pinched a wrist strap from a (Canon) camera and attached it to the eyelet; this is a safety solution (I dropped the clie on a stone floor once; no harm but next time ... ) if you put the strap over your wrist or even round a finger when using it walking around/standing up. A lanyard indeed looks silly.
