I have a Vx with v3.5 s/w that I'm trying to sync with Palm desktop. (Ultimately, I'd like to sync w/Outlook. I have Intellisync for that. But, I have to get the basics first.)
I've tried the latest version of Palm desktop and hotsync on both my laptop and my desktop (both w/Win XP pro). In both cases, the backups work properly (for palm db apps, etc.) and the memopad backs up. But, address/calender/to-do don't do anything. The odd thing is that the log says OK for each.
As I said, I've tried on 2 machines and have uninstalled/re-installed several times. It used to work on my old Win98 machines, and I had a trial version of PDAsync that worked (even with Outlook). So, the serial ports are good.
Anyone seen this before?

Sad to say I am not familiar with the conduit to Outlook that your are trying to use. I use Chapura's PocketMirror that comes on the Palm Install CD. But from the sound of your problem it seems clear that even thought you are getting and "OK" in the hotsync log the conduits to Contacts/Calendar/ToDo are not connecting. As you can attest an OK in the log does not mean you had a successful syn. Prior to your reinstalling of the conduit to OutLook did you remove the earlier installation? You may have left entries in the registry that prevented the new install from functioning any differently than the old install. I hate to encourage you to install it again, this time after uninstalling. If you uninstalled when you did it the last time you may want to try tech support at PUMA, the folks that make Intellisync.

PS: If you have no specific reason to use the Intellisync software and you have the Palm Install CD you could remove the current and try PocketMirror. Put the CD in your drive and go to:
\Palm Desktop\Pocket Mirror\Setup.exe

Thanks for the post. To eliminate the possibility of legacy "stuff", I did a clean install on my newly built desktop and got the EXACT same result.
FWIW, I'm not even trying to use Intellisync. I'm just trying to get the Palm to sync to Palm Desktop using the HotSync program that comes with Desktop. Again, I tried several connections speeds, and the only things that sync are memopad and backups.
I looked up PocketMirror on the Chapura web site. The user manual on the site says that the HotSync conduit must work first. I can't get that one working, so I'm stuck.
The problem is either between the keyboard and chair ;) or it's internal to the Palm. I've tried numerous versions of the Palm desktop and HotSync on my laptop and the latest versions on my virgin desktop.

In desperation, I nuked all of the information in my Palm (ON-Reset). I then sync-ed with HotSync to Palm Desktop. Everything worked fine. So, I loaded Intellisync and everything is great.
I used to use Lotus Notes at my previous job. So, I bought EasySync and used it for a while. It must have left some legacy stuff on the Palm that kept it from Syncing with anything else. It works great now!

Most Palm issues will benefit from the hard reset. I hate to do them but there are times for all things.
Glad to see your functional.
