Hello,

The surface of the M500 series units scuff easily, and the M5xx logo wears off pretty quick. I wouldn't really say its shoddy workmanship on Palm's part, just that they didn't use the proper materials to last longer. I have to be careful putting my M500 in my belt case so I don't scratch it... its just part of owning delicate machinery I suppose :)

The only way to keep your leather cover from scratching your metal casing is to stop using the leather cover.

You can work on the leather with a little Lexol leather revitalizer. If no Lexol is handy, then Connely HideFood, the stuff you use on the leather in your Rolls will do. If all else fails, a little olive oil worked into the leather and left to be absorbed over night.
On the metal casing use a high quality automotive Wax. Not a polish that has abrasives, but a good Carnuba based wax. Just a little. You can even put it on the screen if you don't use a screen protector. Just don't allow excess wax to build around the edges. Put a small amount in the middle of the screen and work to the outside edges. I use a Scotch Bite 3M Micro fiber cloth just as I use on my camera lenses.
