I have been using different software programs and hacks to get the most out of my Palm, but it was never quite enough. What I am about to explain next must not be done by the inexperienced!!
There are 4 torx screws on the back of the m130 (apparently added to that you couldnt open it without professional help). I used simple hand tools (not a torx wrench) and open the palm up. For well over $225 you would be surprised at how little is inside...lol. I found the speaker inside. It looks like a small square with a tiny whole in the top of it. I broke one side of it free and left it connected to the circuit board by 2 connectors. I then took a speaker I scavaged from a perfectly working portable B&W TV (I rarely used in anyway.. won't work when I go back to OZ anyway...lol.) I connected the speaker from the TV to the palm and started my audio player. The sound quality was good, but it wasnt gonna replace your home stereo if you know what I mean, but the volume was increase by about 15 times (it was loud) Since the speaker was really too large to fit inside the Palm I am looking for a flat speaker to put inside... then I will add a headphone jack. How many Palm's have you seen with a headphone jack and sound that rival a small stereo? I must also add that even though my experiment worked, the increase in battery drain would be greatly increased and there is no telling how the processor would handle the load. If you have any suggestions.. let me know. I love my m130 and I plan on making it bump. When you see me coming with my m130... come and look... she won't be anything like she was when she came out of the factory on December 24, 2001. :D
