I am having problems with a "new" Hotsync cradle (i bought one on Ebay) that isn't working right. At first it didn't work at all, then it worked a few times (after I reinstalled the Palm Desktop software.) it works on COM2 for a little while if I slow down the speed greatly. However, it will stop for no apparent reason. I think I found out why though. COM1 (serial port 1) will not work at all. I think there might be some program that is running the COM1 port therefore the Hotsync can't be done. However, I have no idea what program might be using that port. Is there anything I can do to find out what program might be using this port?

I've tried that many times....it seems to work for awhile when I lower the speed to 9600 on both the Serial port and in the Palm Desktop program. Any other suggestions?

what unit are you using and what os version? also desktop software and version, please. it sounds like something is not set right somewhere and we will be more likely to decypher it.
also do you have problems when trying to do a manual hotsync (i.e. pressing the button on the cradle, trying to sync from palm vrs using desktop)?
I think I can help just be patient.

are your problems with both manual and automatic hotsync?
my unit will not autosync but will manual hotsync(pressing the button on the cradle or starting from the palm.)
if so, this is a desktop related issue. without being in front of your computer i acnnot tell you what is wrong.
if one works and the other dont
the wiring is shorted out and you have a bad cradle.
