Has anyone successfully upgrade to OS 4.1 with out any problems? What advantages does it provide? Any known issues with the upgrade? I don’t foresee using large expansion cards so would it be worth it for me?
Thanks,
Bob

Hello Bob,
I tried using the OS 4.1 upgrade on my M500 when I first got it, and it was doing everything it was supposed to (even doing the funky screen thing where it goes really wacky on ya) and when it went to reset itself, it wouldn't shut off. At all. I called Palm and they said sometimes the M500 series units don't take the upgrade like they should, and that I should return it to my retailer for a new one. I did, and OS 4.0 is just fine for me. I use a 64mb MMC card, and it works great. Currently I have 28 applications running from the card and I've only used like hardly any space at all. I wouldn't worry about upgrading...
Thanks, I think I'll stay with 4.0 for now.

Good choice :) I figure if a person really needs to run more applications than a 64mb card can hold, they need to buy a different palm lol

Sparticus,
What are you using to run your apps from the card?
My experience has been mixed. I have settled on PiDirect and MegaLauncher. They use two different approaches to launching from the card. If MegaLauncher seems unable to launch and app, I put the apps in the PiDirect folder and it runs.

I talked to IBM and they don't have a solution to upgrade to 4.1 for the c505. Have any of you been successful in getting the upgrade to work? When running the install software on the desktop, it gives the option of going to an advanced mode. Once in there, then it says to debug. Now, this is where I am having the problem. I have read that the way to get it into the debug mode for a color model (c505) is to hold down the up & down button while resetting. This produces a thin, blue bar at the bottom of the screen. [The "holding down of the down button while resetting" method to debug does nothing on this unit]. Anyway, if the 2 button method is correct and if it is in debug, then the next thing the install advanced screen says to do is to put it back in the cradle and the "Next" button should become active. It never does. That is all the further I can go. So, I don't know what else to do here. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

I'm currently running (from the card) Agenda, Bejewled, BiDec (binary calculator), Calendar, DocToPrint, IP Calc, IrPrint Suite 1.3, Remote, SheetToGo, WordToGo, SolFree, and a couple other games.
You'll actually be suprised to know that I'm not using anything to run them from the card. When I'm in my default OS Launcher, I just copy the programs I want onto the card, and when I launch Silver Screen they're all in the Unfiled category with a little card beside them (denoting card usage). I categorize them where I want and they work just great. Takes a short second more to load them, but it works fine.
