Please help me out. I am a webmaster for a PDA software site and I keep getting the same question over and over from the endusers. Being that I am not very familiar with the devices, (I prefer the Palm and Pocket PC devices) I have no idea how to answer them, so I decided to do some research.

The question comes from people who are ready to "upgrade" to a newer Pocket PC or Palm from Epoc, Symbian or Psion. They wonder if there is a way to keep their databases. The question is usually "How do I transfer my databases from my Epoc to my Pocket PC?"

Does anyone have any clue how this can be done? Please let me know, or even send me in the right direction. It would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Sya

The Psion "Data" applications allow the file to be saved (in the case of Series 3 machines) or exported (in the case of the current EPOC machines) as a delimited text file which can be opened with Excel even if it then needs to be converted for the other PDA.

EPOC "Data" files should also convert with PsiWin to Access.

Thanks Mike, it's just as I suspected, I just didn't figure it would be as simple as that. Would the same be true for Series 5?

Yes, the Series 5 "classic", although using the earlier EPOC Release 3 operating system, has the same Data application as the ER5 operating system devices - 5mx, Revo, S7 etc.
