Brightness Problem On Tt

I recently had to change my tt

but the brightness is weird (different) on my new one..........

On the old one if you turned the brightness down to the minimum setting the backlight was still on very low- then to switch off the backlight you unchecked the box.
However on this new one, from setting 13 down the backlight is off- the same as if you uncheck the backlight button. Thus the first 13 levels of brightness are all identical and with absolutely no backlight on. (after those 13 the backlight comes on and goes up properly)

Was my first one right or the second one?

i have no brightness 13 bars on mine but just a "track" from letf to right and changes in brightness are very visible at every mini move east or west....probabli like on your first tt i guess

hi everybody,

same problem here. I've changed THREE !!! yes 3 different units for dust under the screen and this last have the brightness problem. I mean the colors are pale and not vivid like the first two units I had. Also, the dust under the screen should be a well known issue but palm try to minimize the problem. last thing, what do you think about the new price for tungsten, did you notice that now is 474 ? and two weeeks ago was 618 ? ? maybe a new product is coming.

ye, price tag also falling in paris...is it due to poor quality of product and a desire to sell out stocks ?

Sorry I didn't explain properly.
The brightness switch goes from left to right and the brightness changes accordingly.
HOWEVER at the bottom of the slider the backlight becomes switched off. On my old one this only happened when i unchecked the enable backlight box. I disovered it was the first 13 increments by pressing the 'Up' button to increase the brightness one by one.

i bought my T/T 2weeks ago but havent encountered that problem yet. but yesterday my friend bought a T/t and the brightness problem occured. we called up palm-asia singapore. they say that the batch of T/T's was just released. weve tried 5 T/T's but they all got the problem. i wonder why..... this is frustrating on our part dont you think?

i think the new batches were assembled in a diff factory since all the units that came in with the new batch is encountering that problem as of now. lets just hope palm does something with this. ill keep you posted whats going on around here.

Oh this has been discussed in some previous threads at least twice already :-)

Mine takes like 43? (i can't really remember) "clicks" from the left before any backlight comes on (flickering..)

So 13 isn't that bad.
I'm not really complaining or anything, since the only other Tungsten T handheld I've ever ever seen around here is the store demo. :-)

Where can I find the brightness control? I checked PREFS and didn't see anything with reference to brightness? Where are you all adjusting this?

In the graffit area click on the ligth icon in the upper right area just to the left of the STAR silkscreen.
