Suddenly can't connect 180 to Mac

Tried upgrading to OS4.0, but there were problems. Tried going back to 2.6.3, and now I can't sync my 180 to the Mac. It won't even SEE the Mac. I thought I pulled all the correct files to downgrade the Palm desktop, and I've done ALL the steps suggested in online help.

Does the USB cord ever go bad??

Soft Reset the 180, then try again.
