ActiveSync excess synchronization

Very often ActiveSync synchronizes some 800 mail messages even though I only have 20 or 30 in my inbox. I have not selected other folders to be synchronized. This is really a pain when I try to do an infrared synchronization.

Does anyone else have this experience or have a potential explanation or solution?

This worked for one sync after reoooting IPAQ. Real test will be when I go into work tomorrow and switch from IR sync to Com port for syncs.

Unfortunately I have still got the same problem at work. A couple hundred e-amils to synchronize. I wonder if it has to do with switching from IR to serial and back.
