I am trying to get a sense for the average battery life I can expect from my IPaq 1910. I would like to compare what I have been getting to what others have experienced.

Please post what you have noticed with varying degrees of usage.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

This is a tough one. I guess in all fairness to your question, it really depends. I have read the tests that state that the HP reported 4 hours is a bit of a stretch. I also run the overclock util. (I notice a speed difference but no real noticible battery drain) But I would say that I get a strong three hours out of the battery. But I am a turn on. Use. Turn off. kinda guy. I spend most of the day in my office, with it in the cradle. But I can charge it fully , and game and mp3 thru out most of the day w/ out any trouble. I will be in meetings most of the day tomorrow so i will be using it heavily tomorrow. I will report back in 24 hours.

Could you post the URL for the over clocking program? Thanks in advance! I think the h1910 is somewhat underpower... perhaps overclocking is the solution!

Here it is... It was worth the 10 bucks

Let me know what you think. I have been running it for 3 days w/ out any problems.

Thanks a lot for the link. I have put down the money and install the program. No obvious problem so far. But of course my hp1910 crashes once or twice a day anyway. The program runs faster and screen refresh faster too. Only complaint is you can not try it out before purchase.

BTW, I usually recharge and sync at least every two days. I use PIM all day (check phone numbers etc) and usually update/creates a few word/excel files at spare time (like lunch hours/break) or listen to only a few MP3. For my purpose, PPC is never far from my Desktop PC so even though the battery life is not 40-60 hours like my PalmV, it's not a problem.

Best, Chi

You should have good luck w/ the program. I charged up my unit and left on the counter last night with my 128 mb SD card full of mp3's playing at 50% vol. while I sat w/ my brother (and accountant) and went over my taxes. The bugger played with 2 other programs running for the three hours we sat there, and when I turned it off it was showing 19% battery life remaining. So it would stand to reason that you should be able to get almost the 4 hours hp claims you can get. Not too bad. I am going to Baltimore next week on biz so I went down to my local Staples to see if they had any accessories in stock yet. No dice. So I was going to order an extra batt. from the dotcom kiosk in the store, when the guy helping me told me to go over to the electronix counter, and ask the manager about the demo 1910. So I did, turns out that the thing got so destroyed by the people playing w/ it that they took it off the display. He GAVE me the battery, battery door and stylus!! pretty cool. Alot of people here bash the 1910 but I have been totally charmed by mine. I am knocking on wood, but I have had nothing but a great experience w/ mine.

Have you tried the program, battery pack yet?
Check it out on pocketgear.com for free.

Hi JDP,

Good luck of you to get those accessories, the battery alone is like 50 bucks already :-)

Despite its crashing, I am stuck with it, can't go back to my Palm now... I look forward to next generation of Pocket PC, this generation of PPC got the cool look but underneath it's as stable as Win 3.1.

I now use the battery watch from birdsoft.net which only put a tiny battery bar at the bottom, and its free. I tried the battery pack but it slow down the processer... I think. With my constant crashing, better not complicated things further. All I want to do is getting things done. Besides, it block my "skin" too much. I have tome raider Lara Croft on my PPC now :-)

Cheers,

Chi
