Every time i turn on the radio my device restarts, you know the great "initializing" and then "organizing". And then the radio signal turns right back to "off". I hate this. I have tried to reinstall the os by running thru the application loader. Has anyone else seen this???? I am running internet eddtion 2.1.

If the radio keeps turning back to OFF, then that is a problem your service provider needs to be notified of. The pager may have been accidentally disconnected.

As for a constant "initializing," I have found reinstalling the software can resolve this. It sounds like you have already tried this, so the next step would be to see if getting the radio signal fixed will resolve this issue.

Have you loaded any additional applications on the device? I've run into conflicts when running certain applications with other apps. Individually they run fine...but having them both on the device causes mine to reset also....like the last person said...reinstall the OS and go from there.

bbuser,

This problem is indicative of an internal battery failure. The power required to run the radio hardware is substantially higher than the power needed to simply display the icons on the screen.

If this is a 850/857/957 device I would suggest turning the device off with the power off icon, and leaving the device on charge for a period of 48 hours, then turning the device back on. This may get it working for a few months before you have to do that again.

If it is a 950 device you can power off the device and replace the battery. Now leave the device for 48 hours and drop another brand battery in. You should be good to go. Even though the 950 takes an AA battery there is still an internal lithium battery to provide the higher power levels to the battery hardware.

I upgraded GoAmerica from v.6 to v.6.2 last night, and now the 950 "initializes" everytime the radio comes on. Hmmmm....

I agree with SPY. Fully charge your BB.

As for the user with GoAmerica 6.2 ....that is the web browser. GoAmerica also offers Service. I have been using Go America for almost 2 years now. Good service. I am looking to upgrade our servers to BES 3.5 to check out the incorporated web browser. Anyone else seen it yet? Like it?

It's not quite as refined as the GoWeb browser, but when you are using a text only browser, how good do you need it? I'm sure with the new handheld software releases it will improve. It will be nice once the handheld software has been certified...will save alot of money each month since the web browser is incorporated in the OS/BES.

Thanks WG. I set up BES 3.5 last week but still havent activated MDS. I am going to get to it this week.
What did you mean by having the OS certified?

Motient and Cingular have yet to certify the the the desktop/handheld software. From what I understand there are a few bugs to be worked out. Once that is done they will certify the software.

I found that when I upgraded to GoAmerica 6.2, it required a lot more space. It seems that not having enough space caused the "initializing" problem for me. It would appear that the problem is related to stack space to handle the 386 interupts. When I increased the free space in the "program" area to 256k, the problem magically dissappeared. If you have almost no stack space at all, the BB will simply initialize whenever it tries to handle interupts (i.e. receiving/transmiting). If there is a little stack space, you may get error 40 or 270. Without some stack space, the poor little beastie can't even run the error handler... hence the reboot. Hope this helps... ~fss
