WiFi Hardwar Reqs

i just purchased the e740 and im having issues with the wireless lan. i dont have an existing wireless network in my house but i have a direct connection between my two computers using cat5. my question is what kind of hardware equipment should i buy to make my desktop peer to peer with my e740. and i run on dial up (dunt ask) so i dunt think a router would be able to work... would an access point connected to my desktop work?

If you use Win2K or XP, hook it with a 802.11B PCI or USB device and use network sharing. Connect to that device via ADHOC mode on your PPC and PC. This will share all the other networks connected to that PC.

Do some research on the web and get a good feel for what it can do.

no hook a wireless card to your computer and make it act like an access point. It essentially routes all your traffic from the wireless network to the wired network that is connected to the internet.

An AP will work too but it will be a different more easy setup. Broadband connection to that then all wireless devices connect to that AP

The first one ( the flip top USB) doesn't work well. I sent two of those back at Christmas because they are not compliant with the WIFI 802 standards. Means they have trouble connecting to non-Dlink hardware. The other should be fine but I have never used it.
