Is there a better way to make address labels with the Clie's version of Palm OS that to export a tab delimited file to Excel and import it in mail merge with Word? The older software had a great drag and drop feature not available on the current OS.

I called Sony Support and they told me it was impossible and we're quite rude about it. He had no information about and upgrades or patches.

Here's what I have done.

Export the address labels to Excel in tab delimited format
Enter "first name" etc on the top of each appropriate column and save and close it
Open word and start the mail merge wizard going through the steps to format the label
use the excel sheet as the data source and merge
Most of the time it works

I have not heard a great deal of positive feed back about SONY's tech support staff. That is too bad.

I use OutLook on my PC and sync with the Palm using Chapura.com's Pocket Mirror. I do my address labels from Word via Outlook.

I found a fairly easy way to print address labels using a macro from Avery (the label company.)
Download the Avery Wizard (free) from: http://www.avery.com/software/product_info.jsp?soft_cat_code=15
Install it - It will imbed itself into MS Word.
Export the addresses you want to print from Palm Desktop using Edit_Send To_MS Word.
In Word, delete all Columns except the name and address columns you want to print. Save the file as a .DOC.
Click on the Avery Wizard, (red triangle on the toolbar) and walk through the steps to format labels, using the above .doc when it asks "which file contains your information?
This was a much smother operation than when I tried using the Palm.com instructions for printing labels posted above.

Thanks for the good information. This is an excellent solution to a problem I know many people have had.
