I am trying to set up a PDA to sync with 2 PC's. Both PC's will sync to the same Public Folder in Outlook. I am using IntelliSync with the Calendar setup to sync only 1 way from Outlook to the PDA (the user does not changes appointments on the PDA).

The problem I am getting at the moment is:
1. I sync with PC 1 and my appointments are added to the PDA
2. My appointments change whilst I am away (a secretary changes them)
3. I sync with PC 2.
**It is here I get problems:**
a. An appoinment that has moved but text is not changed is OK.
b. Identical appointments are OK
c. Cancelled appointements are not removed from the PDA (if i use 2 way sync it adds them to outlook from the PDA)
d. New Appointments are added OK
e. Appointments with changed Text/Details appear as new appointments (ie additional appointment at the same time so is a duplicate of the original, but with the additional text etc).

you need some 'common ground'!!

from what i've figured out so far basically when you sync a 'view' of what you have sync'd is made to your instalation directory. you should be fine every time you sync with that PC. when you move to your second PC, its using the view from a different sync to compare the changes made, so it looks like you have added an entry to your palm and you have added an entry to your calender (well your secretary has) as far as the palm is concerned these are now two seperate additions (the view on the second PC of the last sync time does not contain the view of this entry) and its likely to either try and duplicate the entry or something equally as bad.

I kinda know whats happening in my head, but its difficult to explain!

a few possible solutions are:

the common ground, i'm guessing you are working over a network, have you got a data folder accessible from both PC's? like a mapped drive or something? if so, install the program here, and access it from both PC's. this is what we do here and it works fine. i can sync my palm from any PC across the network as long as i'm logged in as me.

or...

if you look in your instalation directory, there are some files with a name relating to the name on your palm. if you take these with you and copy them each time you want to sync on the 'other PC' the palm will always have the same view of what was last sync'd... in theory. i've not tried this :) but you will need to carry around this copy of the files everytime you move PC

or finally...

you buy something like a pendrive, or zip drive or something. install the program here and take this round with you to each PC. a pendrive is basically USB data storage (like memory but its mapped with a drive letter) these are also pretty cheap... just make sure you get one big enough to store your prgram :)

we use the first option here, but thinking about it, the third option would probably be my second choice if i couldnt install to a local place on the network

EDIT: oops, thought it was a palm you were talking about :) should be the same fix though!
