My dad purchased a PV5000 a while ago and it really hasnt seen much use since right after he decided he needed a full laptop upgrade anyways. Well I thought about taking it and using it to go back and forth between my mothers house and here at home.

We have the Dlink wireless hub here, both houses have cable modem access so I am thinking about picking up another DLink hub and installing that at my mothers so I can use it wireless at both places. It would mostly be for just jumping online to read emails through my website or possibly Outlook for CE (if there is such a thing, havent looked just yet)

Im wondering if anyone knows if the DLink will work with the PV5000, as it says "Windows 98, ME, 2000, NT 4.0" But I have yet to find ANY cards that specify it will work with CE, and I up sh*t creek without a paddle, and need to go with a wired hookup (if so can you suggest a basic card that will work) or is there hope?

Have been planning to try a cable connection between my PV-5000 and my home LAN but haven't yet. Would be interested in the results, if you have already tried it.
I think you are very out of luck on the upgrade. I have the Australian version of a PV-5000, which was sold with no internal modem but did come with 32MB. I also have 3 USA versions, all with internal modems but only 16MB. I have never seen an upgrade module in eBay or anywhere else in over a year of searching. In fact, I've not seen any PV-5000's with 32MB offered in eBay or other on-line sources in that time either. I think there are a few modules out there somewhere, but very, very rare. To add to the frustration, for some reason the module in my Aust. PV-5000 does NOT upgrade my USA PV-5000's to 32MB. They still have only 16MB with the Aust. module inserted. That means if the Aust. one dies, I will no longer have a 32MB PV-5000. Too bad Sharp offered such poor after-market support on the PV-5000's. But not surprising. Consider, their long-advertised available upgrade of the Mobilon HC's to CE 3.0/"Pro" wasn't offered until the US gov't. forced them to supply it as a result of legal action. There are good reasons other CE devices like HP Jornada's and NEC MobilePro's (for example) are so popular...
