I downloaded and installed Service Pack 3. I thought I had followed the instructions religiously but I must have done something wrong. When I reset the Ipaq (3970) I get a message that it can't find "aflashman" and "cflashman". Whatever they are must have something to do with the storage card as it can no longer see it! Is there a way to go backwards or access the backup to get those files or?? I'm desperate! There is a lot of information on that card.

go over to http://www.brighthand.com & then go to the Pocket PC area of discusion & then go to iPaq 3900 area. There are many discussions going on about a lot of problems with this new service pack.

I followed your link and discovered my problem. I had done a BackUp before and restored that Backup (from the SD card!) Apparently, you can't do that. Now I am painstakingly reinstalling programs, data, etc!

You should be able to restore your data from the backup; just insure that you do not include any system files (or anything in the \WINDOWS\ directory or registry).
As far as reinstalling your programs, you should be able to do that using the host ActiveSync Tools menu option Add/Remove programs. Most installed programs are maintained here, so you do not have to hunt down the original distributions. Most programs will install with no problems (I had to reinstall one program from scratch that collected the registration data during the PC install wizard stage).
