I can play music from either a CompactFlash card or SecureDigital without skipping, and I currently using a iPaq 3835.

The current SD card I use is a PNY 128MB which is reviewed here

http://www.envynews.com/review.php?ID=196 , and yes I am using that exact same review sample in my ipaq ( it was later sent to me after the review was finished, for doing some more site updates ).

The main thing you want to look for in most storage cards, when you are going to be using them in more applications such as PDAs and such, is the read speed. That 128MB PNY by far as the fastest read speed of any of the cards tested on the site.

You can see a picture of it on page 2 of my latest review being on the xD memory cards.

http://www.envynews.com/review.php?ID=359

On page 5 , you can see the PNY 128MB still holding a very strong 3MB/sec read speed in the USB 2.0 benchmark test compared to all other cards I tested.

So basically if you plan to run alot of things from a SD card, perhaps even install alot of your larger applications to them, be sure to get a brand/card that has a significantly good read access speed.

I got SanDisk 128 Mb also. And does it job.

About SD in general, it is better than MMC. Because it is actually faster. However, someone told me that PocketPC does not use the 'feature' of SD that can make it faster.

I can play music from file directly from SD.

SD is pretty much the same as MMC except two points

1) Extra security ( mainly the write-protect latch)
2) Ability to hold beyound 128MB

SD and MMC will vary in speed, depending on size, and brand. For example, we reviewed a Crucial MMC, the read speed was very close to that of the PNY 128MB, but the Write speed of the crucial MMC was faster than pretty much any other card we tested.

Also I'm not too crazy bout sandisk SD, they're one of the slowest possible on the read speed. This shouldnt affect the PPC much, but you will notice a difference, when you have a bunch of appz installed to the SD card, and most of them are on your dashboard, it takes bout 10 seconds for all the icons to load up, where as on the PNY its almost instant.

But if you are just using it mainly to watch movies and listen to mp3s, pretty much any will work.

Oh I did forget, there are certain devices that are still having some trouble with MMC for some strange reason. Its odd to me because MMC is an open commitee, where as SD is a liscenced one ( basically anyone can make a device to support MMC, but if you want yuor product to support SD , you have to pay them to obtain a liscence to develop for the SD platform )

Is the difference in read-speed even noticible? I have a few, a PNY a sandisk, and a memorex, don't notice any difference at all. All of the cards have mixed content, data, mp3's pix, videos, and games. I just ordered a Sandisk 256MB from tech depot for a paltry $69.99!!
