Hi everyone. I'm looking to buy a new Pocket PC PDA. The Axim seems like the best value for the money. I hope thats true. I also like the SD/MMC and CF slots feature. These might not be Axim-specific questions, but since the Axim is at the top of my list, I'd like to know some of your experiences with the following.

1) Is it possible to connect the PDA to my cell phone via Bluetooth and use the cell as a modem? Can a GPRS or CSD connection transmit over Bluetooth?

2) What kind of web pages can be viewed on the PDA? Is it limited to WAP pages, or can HTML pages be viewed?

3) How is the speed when browsing using a Wifi card?

4) How is the sound quality of MP3s? Does it sound at least as good as a cheap mp3 player?

5) How is the framerate when watching videos? What is the file format and size of a movie?

6) Is it possible to connect the PDA to my computer or other devices via Bluetooth? Has anyone used the Bluetooth CF or SD cards to sync?

Thanks!

1. Yes YES and YES. YOu will need a bluetooth card and a cell plan with those capabilities.

2. Any HTML page. pages formated for Pocket IE (smaller scale) are nicer to look at. I have viewed and sent messages to this site from my PPC.

3. Depends on the card and such. Slower than a PC WIFI but faster than a PC modem. No bad.

4. Sounds as good as any MP3 player. Get good head phones though.

5. Got me there, don't really look at it. YOu will need Pocket TV or DIVX type player.

6. YES, a bluetooth enabled PC and CF bluetooth (no SD BT unless you are Toshiba or Palm) will function fine.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.

How does the Axim's screen compare to the Ipaq's? Is it backlit or front lit?

I have noticed that when viewing video clips from the vertical position the lighting seems to be better, when i view in full screen mode (screen rotated 90 deg) there appears to be uneven light distribution. I have to look at it at a slight angle it seems wierd straight on. Im using pocket tv and have had few videos to look at until my sd card arrives. Im worried that full screen mode may be fatiguing to look at over extended periods.
