I was not able to get it to work on my MMC card, the only way it works for me is being in internal memory.
Does anyone know if it's possible to have the program and the saved offline sites on the memory card?

after 10 frusterating min. looking at avant go I couldn't find any ref to SD, MMC or memory sticks. I think you could use powerrun though

I used to run avantgo off my memory card. Was no big deal. It has been a while ago (I didn't like the time it took to sync and always having to be connected to the internet to do it), but I think you only have to leave avantconnect on the handheld. Anyone else have comments? This may not be completely accurate, but I know I had done it fairly easily.

I used that program called Avantage, but it was slow. I have enough room on my m130 that it doesn't need to be on the expansion card. But if I did need to use it, it can be done, but sllooowwwllyy.

I played with this a bit last night and using launcherx I can move avant go to the card and it will run (it takes a second to load when it is launched) but then when I sync a bunch of avantgo files are re-installed on the handheld even though launcherx still shows that it is still on the card

Avantage from toysoft.ca is the app to accomplish your needs.Of course you could use a file manager to move all of the Avantgo components from the card to RAM for the HotSync and then moving it all back again when the sync is complete. Avantage automates that process.

Be advised that in order for Avantage to move Avantgo to RAM there must be more unused memory in RAM than the total space used for Avantgo on the Card. Bottom Line: choose your channels wisely!

PS: Glad to see the Power Run info. I was not aware that it would allow for the Hotsync. Super.

I would say that you should have no problem running advantgo off of a SD, MMC or Memory Stick. All you need is a program called MSMount that takes a directory and fools the programs within that directory to act as if they are on the handheld, thus making it possible to run those programs from the expantion card.

Trinity,
The nature of Avantgo is that you want it to be updated frequently. To be updated it needs to be in RAM. You are correct it can be run while on the memory card by any of a number of apps but there is no active update of Avantgo while it remains on the card.

correct me if i'm wrong, but as long as you keep the updater part of advantgo in the RAM, shouldn't you be ok??????

Technically correct, but the problem is that the size of the files that get updated regularly -- and need to be in memory -- is the vast majority of the space utilization of Avantgo. I believe that AvGoDocsMQ and AvGoDocsMw need to be in RAM for an efficient sync; these can be moved to the card afterwards. Personally, I use PiDirect to accomplish this, although as DrMud correctly states, I have to do this manually, which means that I only sync Avantgo when I consciously choose to do so.
