I'm able to synch remotely using Wi-Fi, but...

I cant seem to access a shared folder on my desktop remotely

Here is what you should do:
Go into File Explorer and tap o_n “Open” at the bottom. A box is displayed where you can enter a network path. Use the standard UNC naming scheme where you enter a machine name and a network share name; ie: “\\MachineName\FolderName”. This will open a folder o_n the network where you can copy or paste files.

When, I try this I get a error message that "A device with the same hame is already on the network. Tap Start > Settings ...".

Any ideas how I can get this to work?

I can do exactly what you are sying but I use two different pieces of software. The primary one is PENET netowrk drive mounting software. It is freeware and works great, the oine drawback is I cannot get rid of it without a hard reset...Tried everything else. Another I use is CENET which lets you use FTP to connect to storage and shows up as another directory structure. Both work well and integrate into the OS.

I have never tried to use the mounting capability within PPC 2002.
