automate daily email check

using a treo 180.
I'm looking for a way to: sign on to ISP, check email, disconnect --at predefined times. It would be nice to get a email notification beep if something is found.

and PLEEEAASSEE don't just tell me it's a bad idea or i should use sms or whatever. I know this is what I want for my particlar needs. thanks.

Please tell me where to start if i must program it myself.

It looks like after all this time you would have had an answer. I think the reason no answer has arrived is that no answer exists.

It is not a bad idea. You may want to pursue development of such an application. I have no idea how many Treo users want to turn on their unit and find email , perhaps old email, already for them to read and delete. Perhaps a poll of users is in order.

I am not sure if what you are looking for is on Treo Mail. Its a new app that was released for Treo's. It optimized for fast connections and will work on the background to check for email.
